Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
