Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
