The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the globally famous video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in the state of California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated video game developer died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, according to.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
