White House Denounces 'Democrat Hoax' as Further Jeffrey Epstein Images Disclosed
Democratic lawmakers have published a new tranche of what they termed "troubling" images from the property of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The initial drop of 19 photographs—some of which have been seen before—along with another 70 unveiled later on Friday represent a small number of the approximately 100,000 images handed over to the House oversight committee, which is looking into the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The disgraced financier died by apparent suicide in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being indicted on sex-trafficking charges.
High-Profile Individuals in the Photos
Featured among the prominent personalities seen in the initial batch are public figures featuring film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are obscured.
White House Response
The White House responded to the release in a official comment, charging Democrats of selectively "choosing" the photographs for political purposes and to "seek to establish a false narrative."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a White House spokesperson said, maintaining that "this presidency has achieved more for Epstein's victims than Democrats have at any point by consistently demanding disclosure, making public thousands of pages of papers, and demanding additional probes into Epstein's liberal connections."
Panel Member Statement
The photos were published lacking captions, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the investigative panel, they raise more questions about Epstein's associations with wealthy individuals.
"It is time to halt this White House cover-up and bring justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he stated in a release.
The release of these images coincides with the oversight committee pressing on with its inquiry into the Epstein matter.
